VASCO: In a decisive narcotics raid conducted near the Hindu Crematorium at Kharewado, Vasco, the Vasco Police apprehended a man in possession of illegal substances suspected to be Ganja. The operation, led by PSI Carey Fernandes, unfolded on the evening of December 27, between 3:55 PM and 7:30 PM.
The accused, identified as Sadik Davangiri, a resident of Marbel, Betoda, Ponda, was found in possession of 5.24 kilograms of a dry, greenish-colored substance comprising stems, flowers, and fruiting materials suspected to be Ganja. The seized contraband, estimated to be worth ₹5 lakh in the illegal market, was confiscated on the spot.
Following the seizure, the accused was taken into custody and booked under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. He has been remanded to five days of police custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco, to facilitate further investigation into the case.
