PANAJI: Minister for Water Resources Shri Subhash Shirodkar on Tuesday said that the 37th National Games is an opportunity for athletes to prepare for international competitions.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Taekwondo discipline on Tuesday at the Ponda Multipurpose Indoor Stadium. Zilla Panchayat Member Smt. Priya Babu Chari, Sarpanch of Curti Khandepar Panchayat Smt. Sanjana Sudesh Naik, and other dignitaries were present.
“The Games is an opportunity for the athletes to prepare for major international competitions. As you all know, India is bidding to organise the Olympic Games in 2036. I am confident that many national records will be made at this Games,” he said.
Displaying his excitement for ‘Get, Set, Goa’, Shirodkar said, “I welcome all the athletes who have come for the Games. We have been anxiously waiting for the National Games to be held in Goa, to organise and enjoy this event. It is an opportunity for the delegates and athletes to explore the state, how beautiful Goa is,” he added.
