PANAJI: The inaugural Saxtti Ultimate Table Tennis Team Championship has reached its knockout stage, with Nivian Vipers, GCC Paddlers, Smash and Dash, and Uniqlo Warriors advancing to the semi finals after an action packed league phase at Gomant Vidhya Niketan in Margao.
In the semi final line up, Nivian Vipers will face GCC Paddlers, while Smash and Dash are set to take on Uniqlo Warriors in what promises to be an exciting battle for a place in the final. The tournament featured eight teams divided into two groups, with Kiran Titans, Nopex Ninjas, Goa Superkings and Sameer Spinners also competing in the championship.
The event stood out for its unique format that brought together players from different age groups on a single platform, creating a lively mix of experience and emerging talent. Throughout the league stage, spectators witnessed several closely fought encounters and spirited performances from some of Goa’s top paddlers.
The four semi finalist teams are captained by experienced players Sachin Soares of Nivian Vipers, Amit Naik of GCC Paddlers, Niraj Kannure of Smash and Dash, and Sandeep D’Mello of Uniqlo Warriors. The championship also featured participation from notable table tennis players such as Wesley Do Rosario, Chandan Caro, Ishita Colaco, Anushri Naik, Samaira Soares, Dhruva Kamat, Pradnya Caro and Shantesh Mapsekar, adding further quality and competitiveness to the event.
Organised by the Saxtti Sports and Cultural Club, the tournament has drawn strong support from Goa’s sporting community. The championship was inaugurated earlier by Sudin Verenkar, President of the Goa Table Tennis Association, along with Yogiraj Kamat, President of the Goa Swimming Association, Dr Brennan Tavares, host president, Ulhas Raikar, special guest, and Dinesh Sinari, President of the Veterans Table Tennis Association, among other dignitaries and club members.
The semi finals are expected to deliver high intensity contests as the teams battle for a place in the title clash.
