PANAJI: Teachers who were called in for the counting duty and then dismissed without giving proper notice were incensed about the mishandling of staff appointments related to vote counting. When Maximum Teachers arrived at the counting centre in Panaji, they were informed that their names had been removed from the list.
More than 70 employees who had been assigned to the counting tasks were relieved of their responsibilities on Tuesday, resulting in a packed chaos at the Polytechnic College in Panaji, which serves as the North Goa counting centre. These employees were teachers who left their jobs as instructors to travel to Panaji. They were from the inner regions of Valpoi, Sattari, and Bicholim.
The teachers argue that a minimum of a text message should have been sent to them by the authorities 24 hours prior to the main event. “Even after waiting here since the morning, we still can’t find our names.
The management has completely failed. There is no appropriate facility set up, and the management is perplexed. The officials told us in this crowd that they would cross-check the list, but there have been no updates. One of the staff members who was waiting for an update until noon said as much.
The teachers bemoaned the lack of food provided to them due to the lengthy line and the lack of seating arrangements. The teachers were furious because there was not enough food or seating, and they were asking questions of the authorities but got no answer.
