Panaji:The weekend saw three rescues along the coast, in Arambol Sweet Lake and Palolem beach, three medical intervention in Baga and Calangute Beaches, and one lost child reunited with her family*
The rescue at the Arambol sweet water lake involved a male from Hyderabad aged 37yrs. As he ventured into the waters, he found himself in the deep areas and panicked. He started gesturing for help. Drishti Lifesaver Chetan rushed to his aid and secured the victim and brought him safely out of the lake.
Meanwhile Drishti lifesavers in Palolem conducted two single rescues involving a male from Gujarat and a lady from Mumbai. The male aged 34 was in the waters when he got caught in a rip and started drifting when lifesaver Vithoba Velip spotted him, dashed to his rescue and brought him ashore. In a similar incident Lifesaver Manguesh Kirloskar rescued a lady from Mumbai, aged 27 from a rip current at Palolem.
The weekend also witnessed three medical interventions in Baga and Calangute beaches.
Drishti lifesaving team assisted in a medical intervention when a male aged 34yrs from Haryana fractured his ankle while he was in the waters in Baga. Later in the day a lady aged 20yrs hailing from Madhya Pradesh, dislocated her knee while in the sea in Calangute and was rendered first aid by the lifesaving team and was shifted to the hospital for further treatment in a 108 ambulance. Meanwhile a male from Maharashtra, aged 22 yrs injured his shoulder while in the water with his friends at Calangute beach. First aid was administered by the Drishti lifesavers stationed at the beach. Thereafter the victim was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile in Calangute, a family from Andhra Pradesh who were at the beach realised their 5 year-old daughter was not around them. The family began panicking, while shouting for help. Drishti Lifesavers Ashwin Ghag and Siddesh Bhosle immediately carried out a search operation with the aid of the lifesaver’s jeep while announcing on the PA system about the missing girl. A short while later the girl was found and reunited with her family.
