PANAJI: In the wake of tree collapse incidents in Panaji, MLA and Minister Atanasio Monserrate today said that he has directed the CCP Panaji Commissioner and RFO to conduct an inspection of all trees in the city.
“Directed CCP Panaji Commissioner and RFO to conduct an inspection of all trees in the city. It is seen that some roots have been cut off wherever Smart city works have been done,” said Monserrate.
The 19-year-old girl, who was hurt on Sunday in Panaji in a tree fall incident, passed away at the Goa Medical College, Bambolim while receiving treatment.
According to the Panaji police, Aarti Gond, a deceased resident of Betim and a native of Uttar Pradesh, was hurt on Sunday morning when a tree fell close to the Velho & Filos Building as she was strolling along the street near the city’s municipal garden.
Gond was employed by the police in a business on MG Road.
Abruptly, the tree that was perched on the edge of the walkway and wall of the municipal garden fell upon her. Gond was hurt in the head. She stayed beneath the tree trunk until the fire department personnel showed up.
