PORVORIM: Sports Minister Govind Gaude today said that parents should promote their children towards sports while stating that the sports department is ready to provide facilities,
Vasco MLA Daji Salkar Raised concerns over Tilak Maidan at Mormugao which is not in use for most of the time, he requested the Minister to open Tilak Maidan for students and our Goan children to take benefit of this complex.
“Parents should promote their children towards sports, The sports department is ready to provide facilities, and we can allow to use Tilak Maidan with mandatory ID cards with specific timings but need to take responsibility for the infrastructure,” said Gaude
He stated that it would be inappropriate to overlook such a vast sports infrastructure. In response, the minister stated that his department had not received any proposal or request.
“Young Goans, in my opinion, ought to be concerned about their health. However, someone ought to accept accountability,” he remarked.
Gaude said that the stadium is of international standard. The ground is only for football facility. Till someone takes responsibility we cannot consider the demand.
