MARGAO: In a thrilling showdown, Parish Youth Nuvem staged a remarkable comeback to triumph 5-2 over United Boys of Dando Colva to advance to the quarter-finals of the 33rd Super Soccer Tournament, organised by United Boys of Dando Colva held in memory of the late Joao Xavier Fernandes at Dando Ground, Benaulim.
Colva dominated early, with Fanslam Correia scoring in the 6th minute and Jovisco Fernandes doubling the lead in the 8th. Their midfield and forwards were causing havoc for Nuvem’s defence.
However, the Colaco brothers, Francis and Richard, rallied Nuvem. Alvito Dias pulled one back in the 32nd minute, setting the stage for an epic second half.
Nuvem emerged rejuvenated, showcasing dazzling one-touch football. Joywin Costa equalized in the 35th minute, and Inacio’s 43rd-minute strike put them ahead. Despite Colva’s efforts through David Costa, Riston Gomes, and Jovisco Fernandes, Nuvem’s defence stood firm. Joywin Costa and Swindon D’silva sealed the victory with goals in the 56th and 58th minutes, respectively, cementing Nuvem’s dominance.
