CALANGUTE: Calangute Constituency Forum today has filed a complaint with the Calangute police station against alleged illegal road constuction on hill side through properties.
The forum said that they strong opposition to the ongoing construction of a road on the hillside at Gauravaddo East through property bearing survey numbers referred herein above of village Calangute.
“This construction, which involves significant hill cutting, is not only illegal but also highly detrimental to the pristine environment of our community,” the forum said
It further said that construction of road was stopped by the office of Collector North vide Stop Work Order as referred herein above.
“The road construction project appears to be driven solely by the interests of builders looking to raise a concrete jungle, disregarding the well-being of our village environment,” the forum said
They also said that the natural landscape of our village is a vital part of our heritage and contributes to our quality of life. The hill cutting and subsequent environmental degradation will have severe and irreversible impacts, including destruction of Natural Habitat.
“The hillside is home to a variety of flora and fauna, some of which are unique to this area,” it added
