MARGAO: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off five Vande Bharat trains at a public programme organised at Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal today.
Among the five Vande Bharat trains inaugurated by PM Modi today, one connects Mumbai and Goa. This is the first Vande Bharat train for Goa.
“I am very grateful to PM Modi and Ashwini Vaishnaw for running the Vande Bharat train in the state. This will definitely help in the faster connectivity of Goa with Mumbai, which will boost tourism and trade,” said CM Pramod Sawant.
Sawant said that the Vande Bharat shall offer a comfortable travel experience with less travel time on the route bringing ease to the commuters and shall enhance tourism.
He further said that Double tracking will benefit the state of Goa as it will ease operations, and it gives me immense pride to say that once double tracking is completed, Vande Bharat train distance time will be reduced to 5 hours from the current 8 hours.
Speaking on Manohar International Airport, Sawant said that it will be connected via direct flights to all airports across the country in the coming months.
Sawant clarified that Dabolim has not shut down even after Mopa airport was operational.
“Many have expressed concern about Dabolim airport. I want to assure them Dabolim will not be shut down,” he said.
Chief Minister said cargo handling from Manohar International Airport will ensure pharmaceutical units will not depend on other states.
Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express will be Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express, while Maharashtra’s fifth Vande Bharat Express.
It will run between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station. It will help save about one hour of journey time compared with the fastest train connecting the two places.
