Panaji: The first edition of the Aamdar Chashak Women’s and Men’s Cricket League in Porvorim concluded on May 24, 2026, with Penha De Franca Warriors winning the women’s title and Ravalnath United Team securing the men’s championship.
Organised in the Porvorim constituency, the tournament began on May 21 and saw an enthusiastic response from players and cricket fans. The final matches were held at Salvador do Mundo Panchayat Ground.
In the women’s final, Penha De Franca Warriors delivered a dominant performance, scoring 105/0 and defeating Salvador de Mundo Team by 51 runs. The runners-up failed to chase the target within the allotted four-over format.
In the men’s category, Ravalnath United Team emerged victorious against ATB Boys Altorda Team in a closely contested match played in a five-over format. Ravalnath United posted a total of 107/5 and restricted their opponents from completing the chase, winning by 10 runs.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Goa Tourism and IT Minister Rohan Ashok Khaunte, Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, Deputy Speaker Joshua De Souza, and multiple MLAs and local representatives.
Speaking at the event, Minister Khaunte said the initiative marked a significant step toward promoting women’s participation in sports and providing a platform for rural talent. He added that such tournaments could help nurture future national-level athletes from Goa.
Organisers also highlighted that the tournament aimed to encourage youth engagement in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle. The event also featured entertainment activities for spectators, including prize-based games.
The tournament has received widespread appreciation across Goa, with organisers being praised for introducing a dedicated women’s league for the first time under the Aamdar Chashak initiative.
