Panaji: Goa Velha Police Station has registered a case of rash and negligent driving following an accident on NH-66 at Dando, Goa Velha, which left an electric scooter rider grievously injured.
As per the complaint lodged on February 26, 2026 at 3.58 pm by Shubham Mayenkar of Taleigao, the accident occurred on February 20, 2026 at around 6.20 pm opposite the Benetton Store on NH-66 road.
Police stated that the accused, Rohan Roy (48), a businessman from Dabolim, was driving a Maruti Suzuki Swift car (GA-08-AA-8064) from Verna towards Panaji. Upon reaching the stretch opposite the Benetton Store at Dando, the accused allegedly overtook the complainant’s Ather EV scooter (GA-07-AJ-3028) and suddenly took a left turn without giving any indicator signal.
As a result, the complainant, who was proceeding in the same direction, dashed against the car and sustained grievous injuries.
The accused driver was arrested on February 26, 2026 at 4.21 pm and later released on bail at 6.35 pm after furnishing local surety.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC-7040 Sudesh Mangadkar of Goa Velha Police Station.
