Mapusa: Anti Narcotic Cell Police Station has registered a case after its team was allegedly obstructed by a group of persons while attempting to apprehend an absconding accused near Bodgeshwar Temple, Mapusa.
As per the state complaint filed by PSI Saheen Shetye, the incident occurred on February 26, 2026 at around 3.30 pm near Bodgeshwar Temple, Mapusa. The police team had attempted to intercept accused Ravi Naik, who is wanted in ANC Police Station Crime No. 01/2026 registered under Sections 20(b)(ii)(A), 22(a) read with 29 of the NDPS Act.
Police stated that Ravi Naik, along with Gopi Naik and 10–15 other unidentified persons, allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and surrounded the complainant and other police staff. The group reportedly wrongfully restrained the officers, pushed them, and forced them to move away from the accused. They are also alleged to have threatened the police personnel with dire consequences, thereby deterring them from discharging their lawful duties.
During the commotion, the accused Ravi Naik allegedly managed to escape from the spot with the assistance of the group.
All Inspectors-in-Charge have been alerted to keep watch for the absconding accused. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Aditya Gad of Anti Narcotic Cell Police Station.
