MARGAO: Food safety authorities intensified their festive season surveillance drive in Goa, checking interstate buses in Margao to verify the safety and compliance of food products entering the state.
As part of the inspection drive, a sweets manufacturing unit at St. Jose de Areal, IDC Nessai, was also inspected. The unit was found operating without a valid FSSAI licence and under unhygienic and unsanitary conditions.
During the inspection, around 105 kg of Motichur Laddus valued at ₹23,220 was detained and subsequently destroyed in the interest of public health.
Authorities said the festive season surveillance drive will continue to ensure that only safe and compliant food products reach consumers across Goa.
The inspections are aimed at preventing the sale and distribution of unsafe food products, particularly during the festive season when demand for sweets and other food items increases.
