Mapusa: The Peddem Weightlifting Centre at Mapusa produced a record breaking performance at the All Goa Inter Collegiate Men’s Weightlifting Championship, winning gold medals in all eight groups at the two day competition held at the Peddem Sports Complex on August 27 and 28.
The centre secured an impressive haul of eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals, underlining the strength and depth of its weightlifting programme.
The dominant performance also helped SSA Pernem College emerge as the overall Team Champions. AITM Assagao finished as runners up, while Don Bosco College, Panjim secured the second runners up position.
Adding to the celebrations, Sumukh Mahale was named the Iron Man and Best Player of the Tournament. Mahale delivered a standout performance and surpassed his own record from last year to claim the prestigious individual honour.
Mahale is part of the SAG Mapusa Peddem Weightlifting Centre, which continues to produce strong performances at state level competitions.
The athletes were trained under the guidance of NIS Coach Mahesh Prashant Kavlekar of the Sports Authority of Goa. The training programme focused on scientific methods and structured preparation to help the lifters perform at their best.
The centre’s achievement of winning all eight available gold medals stands out as the biggest highlight of the championship and reflects the growing standard of competitive weightlifting in Goa.
With a clean sweep across all eight groups, the Peddem Weightlifting Centre has strengthened its reputation as one of Goa’s leading hubs for developing weightlifting talent and producing champions.
