Mapusa: Mapusa Police Station has registered a case of rash and negligent driving following a road accident that left two persons injured near Ankur Hospital, Mapusa.
As per the state complaint filed on February 26, 2026 at 8.46 pm by HC 4982 Tushar Redkar of Mapusa Police Station, the accident occurred earlier on February 9, 2026 at around 9.15 am.
Police stated that the accused, identified as Taufique Vakeel Ahmed (37), a resident of Housing Board, Mapusa, was riding a scooter (GA-03-S-9833) from Ganeshpuri towards Dattawadi. Upon reaching near Ankur Hospital, the rider allegedly took a sudden right turn without giving proper indicator signal and in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life.
In the process, his scooter reportedly collided with another scooter (GA-03-AG-7610) that was proceeding behind in the same direction. Due to the impact, the rider of the second scooter, Sudhanshu Hanumant Salgaonkar of Oxel, Siolim, sustained serious bodily injuries. The accused rider also suffered injuries in the accident.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC 4982 Tushar Redkar of Mapusa Police Station.
