CANACONA: RGP leader Prashant Pagi, along with residents of Canacona, has submitted objections to the proposed 39A land-use change for Survey No. 148/6 at Nagarcem-Palolem, under the party’s #39A_Revolt campaign.
The objections concern a proposal by R Bose Hospitality Management Private Limited and question the company’s reported links with prominent BJP leaders from West Bengal. RGP has also sought greater transparency over the decision-making process surrounding the proposed conversion.
According to the objections, the land is classified as a “Paddy Field with Irrigation Command Area” under the Regional Plan 2021. The party has raised concerns regarding previous departmental proceedings involving an alleged unauthorised structure, including a demolition order and the rejection of a regularisation application.
RGP has also questioned whether all necessary inputs were obtained from the Water Resources Department and Command Area Development authorities, while raising concerns over the extent of consultation with the local Panchayat and Gram Sabha.
Pagi said the people of Goa deserve transparency when land-use changes involve agricultural areas and individuals with political influence. He said the #39A_Revolt campaign would continue to oppose changes that, according to the party, could affect Goa’s agricultural land, environment and village character.
RGP has urged the TCP Department and the Goa government to examine the objections, make relevant records public, obtain all required departmental inputs and reject the proposal if it does not meet applicable legal and environmental safeguards.
