PANAJI: Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, emerged champions at the Inter Collegiate Taekwondo Women’s Championship 2026 27, organised by Goa University at the SAG Multipurpose Indoor Stadium in Peddem, Mapusa.
The championship was held on August 20 and 21, with colleges from across Goa competing across multiple weight categories. Don Bosco College, Panjim finished as runners up, while Government College of Commerce & Economics, Borda, Margao secured third place.
Rosary College’s Swaroopa Redkar was named the Best Taekwondo Player of the Championship after producing an outstanding performance in the up to 53 kg category. Antara Assolkar also delivered a gold medal winning performance for Rosary in the up to 57 kg category.
The college further strengthened its campaign through strong performances in other categories. Sibal Fernandes competed in the up to 67 kg category, while Tasmiya Rajabali represented Rosary in the above 73 kg category.
Don Bosco College also enjoyed a strong showing, with Nayana Sahu and Shweta Basbire taking the top two positions in the up to 62 kg category. Dhanashri Naik and Priyanka Vishwakarma also featured prominently in the up to 57 kg category, while Ashvitta Quadros competed in the up to 73 kg category and Chhabirani Dhal in the above 73 kg category.
The championship featured competition across eight weight categories, ranging from up to 46 kg to above 73 kg, highlighting the depth of women’s collegiate taekwondo in Goa.
The presentation ceremony was attended by Prof. M. Shanthi, Officiating Principal of DM’S College, Assagao, Taekwondo Coach Theophile Lowe and Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University. Medals and trophies were presented to the winners and top performers.
