CHOPDEM: A 41-year-old Russian national was taken into custody and drugs valued at over Rs 1 crore were taken during a raid by the Goa police’s Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) near the Chopdem circle on the way to Morjim in North Goa.
Iurii Vitaliy Korytin, the accused, is presently living in Siolim and is unemployed, according to the police. Drugs weighing 1.7 kg and estimated to be hydroponic cannabis worth Rs 85 lakh have been seized by police.
Additionally, drugs weighing 300 grams and estimated to be hydroponic weed pollens worth about Rs 18 lakh have been seized. The contraband that was found has a total estimated value of Rs 1.03 crore.
According to the police, the raid was carried out in response to specific information, and the accused was apprehended for having a dried greenish-coloured powdered substance that may have been hydroponic weed pollens as well as a suspected dried greenish-coloured leafy substance with fruiting and flowering tops.
Under the direction of police inspector Sajith Pillai, the ANC team led by police sub-inspector Dindayal Redkar carried out the raid. According to the police, a FIR has been filed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and an investigation is currently underway.
