SALIGAO: Even though Congress and the Goa Forward have been in alliance talks, the ambiguity over the seat-sharing continues.
Goa Forward currently has three MLAs in the Assembly from Siolim, Saligao and Fatorda.
At padayatra, Mhargayecho jaguar, held in Saligao constituency, as part of the GPCC program being held all over the state to create awareness about inflation & price hike, Congress leaders announced that the Saligao seat would not be compromised for the alliance.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, while addressing the workers at the end of the rally, congratulated the workers and the people of Saligao for a good program and advised the workers to continue the awareness programmes on price rise in all parts of the constituency in the coming week.
He assured the people of Saligao that this would be a Congress constituency, looking at the strength of the party workers in Saligao constituency.
Former Chief Minister Wilfred de Sousa’s son in law and Congress spokesperson Tulio de Sousa has claimed for teh ticket and has already begun work.
Tulio has been active in the constituency since 2012, wherein he narrowly lost to then BJP{ candidate Dilip Parulekar on an independent ticket.
In 2017, though Congress fielded Agnel Fernandes in elections, he lost elections miserably to Goa Forward’s Jayesh Salgaocar.
With elections just two three months away, the indecisiveness of Congress could prove costly as it is yet to name any candidates or declare alliances.
Not only Goa Forward, the Congress has kept the Nationalist Congress Party also on hold.
Annoyed by the delay, the NCP leader Churchill Alemao and his daughter Valanka has announced that they would take a major decision in coming days.
