Sanjeevani sugar factory farmers withdrew their agitation as after Deputy CM Chandrakaknt Kavlekar promised to resolve their issues with the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday.
On Thursday, the Sanjeevini sugarcane went on chain hunger strike alleging that the government was ignoring their genuine grievances and still not disclosed the future plans viz-aviz Sanjeevani factory.
They said the government was giving only promises to sugarcane farmers .
About 28000 metric ton of sugarcane was supplied by the farmers to the factory last year and payment has been released for only 30, while rest bill amount not paid said the farmers.
Following this, the Administrator of Sanjeevani Tariq Thomas spoke to Dy CM Babu Kavlekar who assured to resolved the issue at a meeting with CM.
Earlier, Co-op Minister Govind Gaude said that the payments of the farmers would be released soon.
“The government has told the farmers to continue their supply and it will buy the sugarcane from them,” he said.
