PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has criticised the alleged opposition to Vande Mataram and said both the national song and the national anthem should be respected and sung according to protocol.
“While Vande Mataram was being sung, Sonia Gandhi’s and Kharge’s reactions were seen by the entire country. I don’t know why they have anger over Vande Mataram. There is no need to involve BJP and RSS in this,” Sawant said.
He said Vande Mataram had inspired India’s freedom struggle and urged the youth to draw inspiration from the song and contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat.
Sawant also stressed that both Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana should be accorded due respect and performed in accordance with the prescribed protocol.
