JACTINTO ISLAND: Over 120 students from Presentation Convent High School, Fatorda, Margao, embarked on an enriching field trip to St. Jacinto Island, delving into its rich history and heritage.
Led by their teachers, Maria Isabel, Deepali, Effie, and Sarita—the students of Class 7 (A and B) were guided by Cyril A. Fernandes, President of Chicalim Bio-Crusaders. Fernandes introduced them to the island’s historical landmarks, including the ancient church, a freshwater spring, the chapel on the mount with its underground cave, and the historic lighthouse.
During the exploration, some students ventured into the underground tunnel, while others climbed the lighthouse, marveling at the breathtaking panoramic view of Zuari and Chicalim Bay. Expressing their excitement, students Myra Carneiro and Trishan Crasto shared their awe at the island’s beauty and historical significance.
Teacher Sarita Fernandes commended the choice of St. Jacinto Island as their field trip destination, thanking Cyril A. Fernandes for his engaging and informative tour. She noted that the students gained valuable insights into Goa’s history, particularly the significance of St. Jacinto Island.
The trip proved to be an educational and memorable experience, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for Goa’s cultural and natural heritage.
