VAGATOR: A 14-year-old girl committed suicide on January 20 at her Vagator house, prompting Anjuna Police to file a case of unnatural death.
Police reports state that the event was discovered when the youngster was found unconscious in her locked bedroom at 4:25 p.m.
The deceased’s younger sister and the family’s lady caretaker had attempted to contact her but had not heard back.
The girl was discovered dead in the bedroom after the caregiver used an iron rod to pry open the door after sensing something was wrong.
The girl was sent right away to St. Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, where upon arrival, medical professionals pronounced her dead.
At 5:03 p.m., the hospital staff informed Anjuna Police about the event.
A group headed by PSI Ramesh Harijan went to the hospital and made an initial investigation.
Following an inquest, the body was taken for a postmortem at the Goa Medical College (GMC) morgue in Bambolim.
The body has been retained by the police for additional analysis, and the cause of death is still unknown pending the postmortem report. The circumstances behind the tragedy are still being investigated.
