PANAJI: Health minister Vishwajit Rane said that the shortage of ambulances in the state is causing delays in providing immediate emergency care, particularly to the victims of road accidents.
Rane stated that the state now possesses 56 ambulances and that an additional 25 ambulances are required.
“When we first started using the ambulances, there weren’t many accident hotspots, and our average response time was the fastest in the nation at seven minutes,” Rane stated.
“Now that there are more of these hotspots, we need more ambulances.”
According to Rane, the state now has 56 ambulances and needs another twenty-five.

The minister announced that the health department has recommended buying new Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances, and that efforts are being made to procure ALS ambulances through corporate social responsibility activities.
He also said that the top-notch transplantation facility offered by government medical colleges like GMC has not only transformed the way people perceive healthcare services but has also braced their trust in government healthcare facilities.
