PORVORIM: In a bid to deter private companies from issuing job vacancies outside Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed that government will imposes fines and set additional mechanisms to act against offending companies.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was addressing the press conferencing after chairing the cabinet meeting.
“Private firms in Goa are now required to advertise job vacancies, as mandated by the government. Failure to comply will result in fines,” said Sawant
He said that companies will be fined ₹5,000 for the first offense, ₹10,000 for the second, and ₹15,000 for the third. In regards to big firms with over 400 employees, the penalties are higher, ranging from ₹20,000 up to ₹30,000 for subsequent offenses.
“The government is very serious in providing employment to Goans. Number of people employed in the private or even government sector is not shared with the Goa employment exchange but henceforward the government will put such a mechanism in place.” he added
Speaking further Sawant also informed that cabinet has approved leasing out the proposed convention centre at Rua De Ourem to a 5-star hotel. He said that the Centre will host world-class events and conferences in Goa.
Sawant also informed that Mapusa Urban bank’s Nandadeep building will be taken by governmentt by paying Rs 25 cr. In another decision, CM said that
state government will also recruit 24 veterinary assistants on contract basis.
Cabinet also accorded approval to purchase Cattle feed from One Maharashtra
based Co-operative society.
Additionally, Sawant also said that Art and culture department will give Rs 1.5 cr financial grant to Tapobhoomi to organise spiritual festival at Baina.
He also said that an Ex facto approval of Rs 5 cr to Old Goa exposition work has been approved in today’s cabinet.
