PORVORIM: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the House on Monday that the state police would strictly monitor state borders in order to prevent the importation of plaster-of-Paris Ganesh idols.
The usage of Ganesh idols made of plaster from Paris for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration is prohibited by the state.
BJP MLA Premendra Shet brought up the matter on the House floor, inquiring as to the state government’s plans about the Plaster of Paris idols.
In order to prevent the introduction of these idols into the state, Sawant announced that the state police would be required to maintain a close vigil at the state’s borders.
