TALEIGAO: One member of Babush Monserrate panel is set to get elected unopposed as he was the only candidate to file nomination in that ward on the last day of filing nomination for Taleigao Panchayat elections scheduled on April 28.
There are only two candidates in nine wards while one ward has three candidates. Scrutiny will be held tomorrow and the day after is the day for withdrawal.
Since ward No 10 received only one application, Sagar Bandekar will be declared the winner if his application passes the test of scrutiny.
The polling will be held through ballot papers from 8 am to 5 pm on April 28. While Babush panel has fielded candidates in all 11 wards, few individuals have filed nominations against Babush panel.
Presently, Taleigao has 11 wards and the term of the current panchayat body is due to expire on May 8. Taleigao village Panchayat in Tiswadi Taluka, North Goa elections are conducted on April 28, 2024.
The Model Code Of Conduct will be applicable from April 04, 2024, till completion of the election process. The Code Of Conduct shall be applicable to the areas under the jurisdiction of Village Panchayat Taleigao.
