PANAJI: In a shocking incident, theft was reported inside the evidence room of the District and Sessions Court situated at Althino.
The thief was successful in breaking into the evidence room of the District and Sessions Court inspite of it being guarded.
As per information, the thieves ran away with the cash and jewellery seized as a part of the Evidence in various cases.
“We are yet to find out if some import papers related to cases have been stolen. We are investigating the matter,” police sources said.
Adv Aires Rodrigues said that last night’s break-in into the premises of the Panaji Subordinate Courts at Althinho only reflects how far and wide the miscreants have ventured to spread their tentacles.
“Do we need any further proof that the law and order situation in the State is a matter of grave concern? With crime having reached this alarming level, who is or can feel safe now?” questioned Aires.
He further said that Crime in Goa will thrive as long as we continue to elect Godfathers of crime as our representatives and persons with criminal antecedents are able to infiltrate the Goa Police.
