PONDA: Thieves broke into the Sai Baba temple in Durbhat Ponda and took approximately Rs 50,000 in cash.
On Thursday night, following the Aarti and other events, the temple closed at 9:30 p.m. But when Vishwanath Naik, the chairperson of the temple committee, arrived at the temple on Friday morning, he discovered that the fund box was gone and the main door’s lock was broken.
About 100 meters from the temple, in the bushes, was where the empty fund box was discovered.
In addition to sending a police team to the panchanama site, they also called in fingerprint experts.
Following the initial break-in approximately a decade ago, the temple committee installed security cameras. However, the fact that these cameras haven’t been operational for a few years will make it challenging for the authorities to find the accused.
Ponda PI Tushar Lotlikar is looking into the complaint that temple committee chairperson Vishwanath Naik filed.
