New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday recreated the crime scene at the Bhopal residence of former model and actor Twisha Sharma as part of its ongoing probe into her death. Sharma was found dead at her marital home in the Katara Hills area on May 12.
According to officials, the agency, along with forensic and crime scene experts, brought Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, to the residence for a detailed reconstruction of the events leading up to her death. Both are currently in CBI custody.
Investigators used a dummy matching Sharma’s approximate body weight to recreate the scene and verify the sequence of events described by the accused. The exercise was aimed at establishing a precise timeline and assessing whether the accounts provided align with forensic evidence collected from the spot.
According to the FIR, Samarth Singh told investigators that Sharma allegedly died by suicide at around 10.20 pm on May 12 and was subsequently taken to AIIMS Bhopal. Hospital authorities informed police shortly after midnight on May 13 that she had been brought dead, prompting the registration of a medico-legal case.
The post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of death was “antemortem hanging by ligature.” However, the report also recorded multiple simple ante-mortem injuries on different parts of her body, which could have been caused by blunt force.
Following the post-mortem findings and statements from Sharma’s family, police registered an FIR on May 15. Her relatives alleged that she had been subjected to dowry harassment, mental cruelty and domestic abuse after her marriage in December 2025.
The FIR also notes that Sharma spoke to her mother shortly before her death. Family members claim the call ended abruptly after her husband was allegedly heard shouting in the background. The CBI is continuing its investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
