PONDA: The 8th edition of the State Level Tribal Sports Festival 2023 organized by the Sports Authority of Goa concluded today at Ponda Sports Complex.
While speaking at the closing function the Sports and Tribal Minister Shri Govind Gaude congratulated the participants for participating in various sports like Kabaddi, Kho- Kho, Volleyball, Tennis ball Cricket, Tug of war and traditional games like Langadi and Lagori in the scorching heat.
“Winning and losing in games are part and parcel and every sportsperson should focus in achieving its dreams. Hinterland areas especially tribal community should make use of such platforms to showcase its talents and avail such opportunities in the future” he added.
The Sports Minister further informing that Goa Government will be the official host of the 37th National Game urged the players to work hard and train themselves before the National Games.
The Water Resource Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar congratulated the SAG officials and Sports Minister for organising such events. He appreciated all the participants who represented their Talukas.
He further stated that every sports person needs to have consistency, determination and commitment in order to make its career in Sports. He urged the participants to continue its hard work and consider this a beginning to a new victory.
During the closing ceremony winners, runner-up as well individual prizes were distributed under the women and Men category in the above mention games.
The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion were Cortalim MLA Shri Antonio Vaz, Arjuna Awardee Shri Bruno Coutinho and other Government officials and ZP members.
