PANAJI: In a gripping finale, Sesa Football Academy secured the Batora United Women’s Festival Cup by defeating Livval Sports Club Benaulim with a solitary goal, showcasing their prowess and determination. The decisive match, held at the Dysa ground in Curtorim on Friday, was marked by a crucial goal from Sushmita Jadhav in the first half and a heroic penalty save by Sesa FA’s goalkeeper.
The final match was a testament to the team’s resilience and skill. Sushmita Jadhav’s goal in the first half set the tone for the victory, but the real drama unfolded in the second half. Sushmita Jadhav was deservedly awarded the ‘First scorer of the match’ and ‘Best player of the final’ for her pivotal role. Aashika Gadekar’s outstanding performance earned her the ‘Best goalkeeper of the final’ title, while Rhea Pires was recognized as the ‘Best defender of the final’. From Livval SC, Jossel Mascarenhas was named ‘Best half of the final’, and Aniela Barreto was awarded ‘Best forward of the final’.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Mrs. Michelle Rebello, ZP member of Curtorim Constituency, who was the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Maria Rebello, the first FIFA referee in Goa, along with local dignitaries and club officials such as Gloria Demelo, James D’Costa, Savio Fernandes, Anthony Fernandes, Francisco Nunes, Joaquim Fernandes, Franky Fernandes, Caetano Fernandes, and Domnick Paes.
