Panaji: The Goa University Inter Collegiate Kabaddi Championships 2026 27 concluded with Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts and Commerce, Canacona, emerging as the men’s champions, while GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda, claimed the women’s title.
The four day championship was held from September 7 to 10 at the Sports Authority of Goa’s Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium at Peddem, Mapusa. A total of 28 men’s teams and 18 women’s teams participated in the competition.
In the men’s final, Shree Mallikarjun College defeated Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, 56 42 to lift the championship trophy.
Canacona had earlier secured its place in the final after a closely fought 37 35 victory over M.E.S. Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, in the semifinals. Assagao advanced to the final with a commanding 69 32 win over Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim.
In the women’s final, GVM’s College Farmagudi produced a strong performance to defeat Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona, 64 41 and secure the championship title.
Farmagudi had earlier defeated Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim, 65 37 in the semifinals. Canacona reached the final after overcoming Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao, 53 32.
Ashish Velip of Shree Mallikarjun College was named the Best Player in the men’s category, while Vibha Jalmi of GVM’s College Farmagudi received the Best Player award in the women’s category.
The presentation ceremony was attended by sports officials, coaches and representatives from participating institutions. Medals and trophies were presented to the winners and runners up, marking the conclusion of the university’s kabaddi championships.
