MARGAO: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the State and the growing sense of insecurity among citizens.
A GPCC delegation urged the Goa Police to immediately intensify night patrolling and increase police presence in residential areas, particularly in villages and localities where a large number of houses are expected to remain vacant during the festival period.
The Congress also called for the deployment of additional police personnel and mobile patrol units in vulnerable areas across North, South and Central Goa.
The delegation stressed the need for intensified surveillance in vulnerable locations, including Mapusa, Siolim, Anjuna, Porvorim and other residential and semi-urban areas.
The GPCC said increased police visibility and regular patrolling would help deter criminal activities and provide greater security to residents, especially in areas where homes may remain unattended.
The Congress urged the police authorities to take preventive measures at the earliest and ensure adequate security arrangements throughout the festival period.
