DABOLIM: Amid the thunderous beats of Dhol Tasha and chants of “Ganapati Bappa Morya”, Dabolimcha Raja arrived in a grand procession on Thursday evening and took his place at the beautifully decorated pandal beneath the Dabolim flyover.
The arrival drew a large gathering of devotees, with the procession turning the area into a vibrant festive spectacle as people accompanied the idol with traditional music, devotional chants and celebrations.
Organisers said the pandal, set up beneath the Dabolim flyover, is among the biggest Sarvajanik Ganapati pandals in Goa and is expected to attract a large number of devotees throughout the festival.
Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav said the venue had undergone a major change this year due to the ongoing Dabolim flyover works, which led to the removal of the shed where the idol was traditionally installed.
However, he said the change had resulted in a larger space for the celebrations.
“Dabolim flyover works took away the earlier shed where we used to install Dabolimcha Raja, but Ganapati Bappa himself has given us a bigger and better place this year. We now have a much larger space to welcome devotees and celebrate the festival with greater enthusiasm,” Yadav said.
He invited people from across Goa to visit the pandal and seek the blessings of Dabolimcha Raja during the festival.
Yadav said the celebrations were not merely about grandeur but about bringing people together through devotion, faith and a spirit of togetherness.
With the idol now installed at the new venue, arrangements have been completed to welcome devotees throughout the festival. The grand arrival has set the tone for days of devotional activities and celebrations in Dabolim.
“Everyone is welcome to come and take the blessings of Bappa. We appeal to devotees to visit Dabolimcha Raja and be part of the celebrations,” Yadav said.
