Panaji, September 13: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai said his party has not cheated anyone while explaining its decision to align with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
Sardesai said GFP was an alliance partner of the Congress during the 2022 Assembly elections, but later suspended talks with the party and opened discussions with AAP.
He said the track record of AAP’s two MLAs in Goa also played an important role in GFP’s decision to enter into an alliance with the party.
“Despite having only two MLAs, both have remained with the party and have not defected,” Sardesai said, referring to AAP legislators Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva.
Sardesai said the loyalty of AAP’s legislators was considered while deciding on the alliance, particularly in the backdrop of large scale defections witnessed in Goa politics.
He maintained that GFP’s decision was based on political considerations and that the party had not cheated anyone by exploring a new alliance ahead of the 2027 polls.
