PANAJI: Goa has taken its first step towards technology-driven agriculture with the State’s first five farmers receiving AgriStack Farmer Enrolment IDs under the Goa State Amritkal Agriculture Policy, 2025.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant felicitated the five farmers from Surla and presented them Certificates of Appreciation at a programme organised by the Directorate of Agriculture under the Swayampurna Goa – Vocal for Local initiative.
The AgriStack initiative aims to provide every farmer with a unique digital identity through the Farmer ID system, enabling better digital records and easier access to government schemes, agricultural services and benefits.
Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said AgriStack is a transformative initiative that brings technology and innovation into agriculture and will help empower farmers.
He said the unique Farmer ID would enable farmers to access government schemes more effectively, support improved agricultural planning and make the delivery of services more transparent, efficient and farmer-centric.
The Chief Minister appealed to all Goan farmers to enrol under AgriStack and obtain their Farmer IDs, saying wider adoption of the digital system would strengthen the State’s agricultural ecosystem.
According to the government, AgriStack will bring farmer-related information together through a digital framework, making it easier to identify beneficiaries and improve the delivery of agriculture-related schemes and services.
The Farmer ID is also expected to facilitate access to government programmes, reduce gaps in service delivery and help farmers connect with relevant agricultural opportunities and market linkages.
The felicitation of the first five farmers from Surla marks the beginning of the wider Farmer ID enrolment process in Goa. The government said the initiative will encourage more farmers to register and benefit from a digital system aimed at making agricultural services more accessible, transparent and efficient.
The programme was attended by the Secretary (Agriculture), Director of Agriculture, senior officials of the Directorate of Agriculture, farmers and other stakeholders.
