New Delhi: Goa suffered a 44-run defeat against Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing U-19 Women’s Inter-State T20 Cricket Tournament for the SIECHEM Trophy in Puducherry.
Himachal Pradesh, batting first, put up a competitive total of 138 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. Anahita Singh led the innings with a fine knock of 59, providing stability and momentum to the side. Dhanya Lakshmi Sharma also made an important contribution, scoring 37 runs.
Goa’s bowlers produced some disciplined spells and managed to restrict Himachal Pradesh from posting an even bigger total. Athashree Shivarkar was the most successful bowler for Goa, picking up two wickets for 18 runs. Pooja Kalel also claimed two wickets, finishing with figures of 2 for 27.
Chasing 139 for victory, Goa struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. The batting side was eventually bowled out for 94 runs in their 20 overs, falling well short of the target.
Athashree Shivarkar once again stood out for Goa with the bat, top-scoring with 31 runs to complete a notable all-round performance. Rakshanda Kalangutkar was the only other batter to reach double figures with a contribution of 15.
Himachal Pradesh maintained control with the ball, with Mannat Kaur taking two wickets for 16 runs. Anahita Singh, after her match-winning contribution with the bat, also impressed with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 9.
Despite Athashree’s strong all-round display, Goa could not recover from the regular loss of wickets as Himachal Pradesh secured a convincing 44-run victory in the tournament.
