MARGAO: United Club Verna entered into the quarterfinal by defeating CurtorimGymkhana 2-0 in the inter-village football tournament organised by the St. Sebastian Union Club
at Dando ground, Benaulim.
From the outset, United club Verna dominated, with Eusebio and Clive Fernandes orchestrating play and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Despite their dominance, United club Verna’s forwards struggled to capitalize, while Curtorim Milagres Fernandes’s shoot from the edge of the box missed the frame. The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Clifton Rebelo of United Club Verna capitalized on a rebound after diving by Curtorim’s keeper to make a 1-0 lead. Rebelo struck again in the 60th minute, securing a 2-0 victory for united club Verna.
