PANAJI: A letter from the North Goa Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to Anjuna Police accusing a child care center in Assagao of unlawfully sheltering children under the age of two has been duly acknowledged by the Bombay High Court in Goa.
The Goa government, relevant departments, and the non-governmental organization respondents are named in a Suo Motu Public Interest Litigation (SMPIL) that the Bench has started.
According to the lawsuit, the daycare center has been lodging kids even between the ages of two and ten without the CWC’s permission. Earlier this month, the Committee requested that the local police file a First Information Report against the institution after its management was found to have taken more than twenty-two minors without permission.
In addition, the complainant questioned the children’s origins and the reason for their housing without notifying the CWC.
