PANAJI: On February 6, 2025, the Guirim Village Panchayat hall was the venue for a significant program organized by the Guirim Free Legal Aid Cell of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law. The event, focused on “Prevention of Crimes Against Marginalised Sections of the Society,” was a collaborative effort between the college and the local panchayat. It was designed to benefit the mahila mandal, students of Government High School Namoshi Guirim, and the general public.
The program featured several distinguished guests, including Adv. Shabnam Adam Khan as the guest speaker. Guirim Sarpanch Adv. Shubham Rao Dessai and Deputy Sarpanch Ms. Shreya Naik also graced the occasion. Dr. Shruti Kamat Dalal, the faculty in-charge of the Guirim Free Legal Aid Cell, played a crucial role in organizing the event. Student leaders Jochele Correia and Saisha Satardekar, who serve as the cell in-charge and deputy cell in-charge, respectively, were instrumental in ensuring the program’s success.
This initiative underscores the college’s commitment to social responsibility and its ongoing efforts to educate and protect marginalized sections of society. The event was part of the college’s broader mission to provide free legal aid and promote justice, aligning with its motto of “Excellentia, Justitia et Humanitas” (Excellence in Legal Education, In Pursuit of Justice, and Service to Humanity).
