Mapusa: Verla Canca Sarpanch threatened to agitate if PWD fails to supply regular water supply in next eight days.
Around 50 residents of Verla Canca village marched at the office of PWD Mapusa with vessels and confronted JE over irregular water supply issue. The villagers were headed by newly appointed sarpanch Amita Korgaonkar.
The morcha was led by Sarpanch Amita Korgaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch Vrushali Arlekar, Panchsadam Digambar Kalangutkar, Vasudev (Manoj) Korgaonkar, Saterinagar Residents Colony President Bhanudas Besari
The villagers then confronted the JR and threated to agitate of the department fails to restore water in next 8 days.
Parts of Verla, Naikawado, Saterinagar and Sainagar as well as other areas of the Verla Canca village are not receiving proper tap water from last four years. Residents further informed that there are also a couple of wells that have dried up due to which the villagers are forced to buy water tankers said Panch Digambar Kalangutkar.
“For the last four years, people in this area have been getting tap water for fifteen to twenty minutes only. So the four kalshahis of the people in the house do not fill with water. There are also a couple of water wells in the area. But they are inside people’s homes. The owners of the wells let the people fetch water but by March April the well go dry”, Digambar Kalangutkar informed.
