PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today has warned of a possible spike in COVID-19 cases in January with SoP’s being violated by tourists and other revellers.
Addressing the media, Rane said that with Covid-19 SoP’s violated by tourists and other revellers in Goa during the last month would cause a possible spike in COVID-19 cases in the state.
Rane said that the Expert committee recommends strict action against hotels, pubs and night clubs who flaunt SoP’s and fails to ensure whether their guest wear mask or maintain social distancing.
“The department will move a file in this regard to the state government,” Rane added
The health minister also said that the government must increase fine from current Rs200 to Rs 500 for non wearing of mask.
“The people have been putting life of doctors and health workers in danger by not following SoP’s,” he said
Speaking on the recovery rate, Rane informed that Goa’s recovery rate is 97 to 98 percent.
