PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that an exhaustive list of all vulnerable and dark spots had been made, and a request is made to the Department of Tourism to ensure adequate lighting and CCTV facilities for women’s safety in the state.
“An exhaustive list of all vulnerable and dark spots has been made, and a request is made to the Department of Tourism for ensuring adequate lighting and CCTV facilities. Verification on strangers/tenants is also done,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that from time to time, directions are given to all the Officers/IOs to conduct a thorough and speedy investigation and make sincere efforts to detect the cases.
“Day and night Police patrolling is maintained by the staff of Police Stations in their respective P.S. jurisdiction i.e. at the Bus stands, near schools, colleges, market places, Railway Stations, etc. for the safety of women,” he added.
Sawant also said that a separate Women P.S. and (AHTU) Women and Child Protection Unit is functioning in the state to exclusively deal with the cases related to crime against women and children.
‘Sources and informants are activated and criminal intelligence is being collected” CM said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister also said that the women helpdesk has been setup at all police stations in Goa while the Women helpline 1091 is functioning from SPCR Panaji.
