PANAJI: Oxford delivered a clinical performance to secure the championship title with a massive 168 run win over Future Star Cricket Academy in the Platinum final of the 2nd All India T20 Under 16 Cricket Championship. The contest, held at Arlem Cricket Ground, saw Oxford excel in both batting and bowling to completely outplay their opponents.
Opting to bat first, Oxford got off to a brisk start with Rehan Hubli setting the tone through a quickfire 28 off 17 balls. The innings then revolved around an outstanding knock from Yug Yadav, who showcased remarkable control and attacking intent. He remained unbeaten on 102 runs from just 58 deliveries, striking boundaries with ease and anchoring the innings confidently. Barhaan Dash provided strong support in the middle order with a well-paced 54 off 34 balls, while Farhan Shaikh added late runs to push the total to an imposing 214 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs.
In response, Future Star struggled from the very beginning of their chase. An early breakthrough reduced them to one run for the loss of their first wicket, and the pressure continued to mount as wickets fell at regular intervals. Captain Gowtham Reddy attempted to steady the innings with a patient 25, but lacked support as the rest of the batting lineup failed to cope with the disciplined bowling attack.
Oxford’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout, ensuring there was no opportunity for a comeback. Mohammad Ehtesham led the attack with an impressive spell, picking up four wickets while conceding just eight runs in his quota. Tanishq Naik provided early breakthroughs, while Mrunal Naik, Yug Yadav, and Mohammad Abbas contributed with a wicket each.
The comprehensive win highlighted Oxford’s dominance and teamwork, with both batting and bowling units performing exceptionally to seal a memorable title triumph.
