PANAJI: Appealing to people not to panic over the Omicron scare, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today requested the citizens to go ahead and get themselves fully vaccinated.
CM also informed that around. 1.30 lakh people are yet to be vaccinated with the second dose.
“I urge people to get themselves fully vaccinated. Around 1.30 lakh people are yet to be vaccinated with the second. Vaccination helps less trouble and does away with serious complications once infected with COVID19,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that the state government plans to get all eligible citizens fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 19, the coastal state’s liberation day.
In regards to 5 cases that were detected at MPT, CM said that they were awaiting results from the Pune lab.
“Those 5 people were isolated after they tested positive for COVID-19, and their samples have been sent for genome sequencing to detect the presence of the Omicron variant,” he added.
CM also appealed to people not to create a panic situation in the state by referring to them as Omicron suspects.
“I am continuously following up on the situation,” Sawant said
Sawant said that he to declare Goa as a 100 per cent vaccinated state by December 19.
“This is our target; people should help us achieve that. Take the second dose before Narendra Modi arrives in Goa,” he added.
Modi is scheduled to arrive in Goa on December 19 to inaugurate several projects.
