PANAJI: With the State recording seventeen more deaths on Saturday, the government has announced slew of measures with the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant also chairing crucial meeting with health officials.
Out of the 17 deaths, 10 death’s were at South Goa District Hospital, seven were at GMC, Bambolim.
The bulletin said that out of the two patients who have died within 24 hours, both patients were symptomatic for 3 days prior to reporting to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the State Goa government has notified the entire premises of Mormugao Port Trust(MPT) Hospital at Headland, Sada as dedicated Covid-19 Hospital. Only COVID suspects or confirmed COVID cases shall be admitted and treated in the hospital until further notice.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that minimum 2,000 beds will be kept ready in the state for treating COVID patients, after attending a meeting of health department officials chaired by CM Pramod Sawant.
The meeting held via videoconferencing deliberated on further measures to manage the second wave of the pandemic and contain the spread of the disease.
“I have received quality inputs from the officials of health department who are working on the ground, which will help us greatly in strategizing our further action plan,” said CM Sawant.
Meanwhile, CM will address the state at 7 pm today via videoconferencing.
