PANAJI: FC Goa’s U13 squad this season will comprise 18 players who participated in the Little Gaurs League last season. With 33 teams and more than 350 children participating in the Boys’ U12 category last season, the Gaurs had exposure to a whole array of talent.
Five players from Arpora’s Super 30 Academy – who were the champions of the North Zone and the Super Cup – made it to the final list. This includes Aryan Lingudkar – who was the top scorer in the U12 category in the North Goa Zone.
South Goa’s Voody Football Academy – who finished third in the Under 12 South Zone, and Runners-up in the LGL Super Cup saw three of their students make the cut. Meanwhile, Kings’ School, Laxmi Prasad Sports Club, Salcette FC, GFDC, Regina High School, Sai Miguel (Taleigao), and Regina High School also saw their pupils make the cut.
Meanwhile, four youngsters from last season’s squad were retained while 10 have been promoted to the U15 team.
The full list of players making it through the LGL is as follows: Sarvambh Dalvi (Kings School – Margao), Ackley Costa (Salcette FC), Anirudh Deulkar (GFDC – Navelim), Dwayne Fernandes (Voody Football Academy), Welsh Fernandes (Voody Football Academy), Dwayne De Cruz (Voody Football Academy), Vollan Coutinho (Regina High School), Aarush Sawant (Laxmi Prasad High School), Divyesh Kundaikar (Taleigao Sao Migel), Atharv Toraskar (GFDC – Siolim), Aryan Lingudkar (Super 30), Kurtson Menezes (Super 30), Chris Dcosta (Super 30), Chris Nunes (Super 30), Atharv Govekar (Super 30)
Piyush Sawant, Kunal Hadfadkar, Saiesh Kotharkar and Abner Viegas will continue with the U13 team after helping the team to a State Championship last season.
Meanwhile, Fatorda’s Nathan Pinto and Pilar native Ludovico Figueirdo made the team thanks to trials at the Club.
Last season saw the U13 team trounce all on their way to being crowned champions of Goa. Their unbeaten campaign saw the young Gaurs score 95 goals, conceding five in eight games.
