PORVORIM: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has informed the house that the total number of Taxi owners who booked digital meters are 3162, and actual fitted digital meters are 1977(data extracted as of 09/10/2021).
“A total number of Taxi owners who booked digital meters are 3162, and actual fitted digital meters are 1977(data extracted as on 09/10/2021). Digital meters installed on vehicles are already functioning,” said Godinho.
He further said that the agency engaged in fitting digitals meters, and the number of centres are Rosmerta Autotech Pvt. Ltd. with four centres and SECURINEX INC with 4 centres.
Godinho informed that NIC is already working on it, and in due course of time, the features will be added to the service. He said the government had earlier requested taxi operators to adopt an app-based service, but they would never accept the app service.
He said that the state government had amended Section 140 of the Goa Motor Vehicles Rules-1991, wherein every motor cab is to be fitted with a digital fare meter, a printer, a Global Positioning System (GPS), and a panic button.
